A couple of weeks back I embarked on a superb vacation to Skåne, the southern idea of Sweden, pursuing an invitation from the community tourism board Visit Skåne. I was enthusiastic mainly because the only factor I realized about Skåne so much was its most important city: Malmö. I traveled a couple yrs ago to learn the town and its vibrant design and style scene. This time my mission was very similar, yet broader. I was likely to check out Malmö, Trelleborg and Helsingborg and attend the new structure pageant, the Southern Sweden Layout Times.
Minimal did I know how attractive and picturesque Skåne is. My first days I put in in the vicinity of Trelleborg, in the southern tip of the region. It is there where by you can in fact check out the southernmost issue of Sweden and acquire in the new sea breeze and the eco-friendly landscape. Essentially in this time the landscape is all green and yellow with rapeseed fields all to the horizon.
What I beloved about the Trelleborg area was its near proximity to Malmö, and yet you felt like seriously out at the countryside – even nevertheless it was a mere 20 minutes push by car or truck from the town. I have three private highlights from that area: Slättarps Gård, a farm-turned-principle store in the midst of fertile fields with a wonderful cafe the chic and new Weinbergs Hotel with a wonderful cafe and Axatorpsgården, a dreamy Mattress & Breakfast where I was being (but I will convey to you extra about this a single is a separate weblog post).
Malmö was its brilliant self as normal – this metropolis sort of mixes Swedish and Danish vibes, yet it also feels really cosmopolitan. And sunny times are the greatest in town – it is as if all people is outside the house experiencing the sunshine and mild temperatures. My mission was to go and take a look at this year’s Southern Sweden Style Days, which are scattered all-around the city in numerous locations. In in between I wanted to cease in just one of my most loved very little dining places in town: Noir. And just right after a great bite & vino, I stopped at Olsson & Gerthel, a store packed with Scandinavian style that constantly tends to make my heart skip a conquer.
The relaxation of the working day I used getting the resourceful scene and styles from southern Sweden. I liked the colourful and playful designs of Swedish Ninja as effectively as the trendy outdoor home furnishings range of Nola. Talking of outside (and indoor why not): the wooden bench by designer Marc Hoogendijk would be surely my decision if I experienced space!
An additional wonderful discovery was the do the job of younger Swedish Artist Elsa Unnegård. She showcased a stool made of burnt wooden that appears to be like like driftwood, but is in simple fact sculpted by her. I observed it pretty sculptural, quite artsy – nonetheless sensible, as you can definitely use it as a stool. Also I liked to see a blend of natural and organic designs, materials, shades as opposed to practical, classy home furniture that stems from what they connect with ‘technomimicry’, mimicking and looking for inspiration in technological models. I spotted some plant solutions as very well – of course. Skandiform showcased the Allé Corner area dividers that are essentially intelligent plant stands to framework areas with plant divisions.
Also for those people of you imagining of Malmö as a wonderful journey vacation spot (and I inspire you to incorporate it your vacation bucket record): staying in the Duxiana Resort is a best remedy: you are tremendous central and you will slumber like a baby in their incredible beds!
The final portion of my Skåne vacation brought me to Helsingborg, a 50 minutes generate north of Malmö. The city is vivid and has a wonderful shoreline to enjoy (windy) walks, adorable coffee destinations like the Bruket Kaffebar, awesome dining places like the Sillen & Makrillen overlooking the Öresund, as well as a really funky hotel: the Vault Resort!
But when in Helsingborg, I motivate you to drive out to the surrounding countryside, as the mother nature is gorgeous and the soil here has a good deal of clay which resulted in a person of Sweden’s oldest and most regular pottery factories: the Wallåkra Stoneware Factory. There I experienced the awesome prospect to get again to the potter’s wheel soon after so many several years and throw my possess minor piece of the really common Skåne clay. I am curious to see the very little bud vase at the time it’s fired and comes here in Berlin. Close by you can also stop at the ‘Tomatenshus’, a tomato escalating farm, that grows exceptionally delicious tomatoes. And yes, I received hungry there much too – so just following doorways is the restaurant Overlook Alice Kroog & Delikatesser and their signature dish is: tomato pie! Yes, go for it! Oh of course!!
From Helsingborg I explained goodbye to Skåne by having the ferry and location above to Helsingør in Denmark. But that is a different story to be explained to. For now I hope you liked the tiny tour of Skåne and its lively areas and style and design scene. See you quickly at the Axatorpsgården Mattress & Breakfast in this article on the blog site!
